01.

Calvin-Harris

02.

david-guetta

03.

tiest

04.

skrillexsteveaoki

06.

avicii

07.

kascade

08.

martingarixzedd

10.

afrojack

The American business magazine Forbes’ annual “Top DJ Income Ranking”

This year in the number one spot light…

01.

Calvin-Harris

Calvin Harris!

Taking first place three years in a row!!!
He took in a total amount of $ 66 million.
Thats enough to support a small to a medium sized company.

This ranking takes in the last 12 months of payment from gigs and festivals, also including brand collaborations and song sales. However, in Calvins case, his world renowned international shows and modelling contract with Giorgio Armani, modelling with other eye ware and watches brand must have landed him in the number one spot.

On a side note, 2 years ago his income was $ 46 million and the year before was also $ 66 million, but his girl friend, Taylor Swift is said to brought in over $ 80 million… We look forward to what lies in the feature years.

02.

david-guetta

Number two is EDM pioneer David Guetta at $ 37 Million.

03.

tiest

Number three is the King Tiesto at $ 36 Million.

04.

skrillexsteveaoki

Skrillex and Steve Aoki at $ 29 Million.

06.

avicii

Avicii $ 19 million.

07.

kascade

Kaskade at $ 18 Million.

08.

martingarixzedd

Martin Garrix and Zed at $ 17 Million.

10.

afrojack

Afro Jack at $ 16 Million.

11.

deadmou5diplo

Dead Mouse and Diplo at $ 15 Million.

For reference, 2014 ranking was…

The top three did not change except that, last year Avacci shared third with Tiesto. ( Being out sick must have been the cause of decline in income. )

5th place Steve Aoki ( Up a rank this year!), Afro Jack, Zed, Kaskade, Skrillex, and Dead Mouse fallows after.

Overall, the top 10 list has gone up in income, (Avacci, Zed, Afro Jack and Dead Mouse has gone down slightly) Could this mean that compared to 2013 that the overall growth has declined? The scene is still in good terms, but its hard not wonder why the overall growth has down shifted.

Martin Garrix making it into 8th place is a light of hope. At the age of 19, he made it into DJ Mag Ranking in high positions, ( some say he could place 1st this year!) this could mean a new wave of artists; a new movement, more material to add to the fuel.

Even though Hardwell has taken 1st place 2 consecutive years in DJ Mag’s DJ ranking, he isn’t apart of the income ranking.
He should be making a decent amount, but popularity and money doesn’t seem to be something that corresponds in the EDM scene. A clear statement that business and popularity are two different things.

This certainly is not a bad thing, but could be looked at as an expansion of the EDM scene.
Dance music has become apart of big business because of EDM and the momentum doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon!!
